We are deeply concerned about the practice you mentioned, as it does not align with biblical principles and the teachings of Jesus Christ. Let us examine this issue through the lens of scripture.
Firstly, the Bible warns us about false prophets and teachers who exploit people for financial gain. In 2 Peter 2:3 (WEB), it is written, "In their greed they will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping." We must be discerning and test everything against the word of God.
Secondly, selling items for healing or blessing is not biblical. In Acts 8:18-20 (WEB), Simon the sorcerer offered money to the apostles to gain the power to lay hands on people to receive the Holy Spirit. Peter rebuked him saying, "May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money! You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart isn't right before God."
Jesus himself showed righteous anger when he drove out those who were selling in the temple, as recorded in John 2:14-16 (WEB), "He found in the temple those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves, and the changers of money sitting. He made a whip of cords, and threw all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and he poured out the changers' money, and overthrew their tables. To those who sold the doves, he said, 'Take these things out of here! Don't make my Father's house a marketplace!'"
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we come before you to seek your will and guidance. Lord, we pray for discernment for your people, that they may not be misled by false teachings and exploitative practices. We rebuke the spirit of greed and manipulation, and we ask that you expose any false prophets and teachers who prey on your people. Lord, we pray for those who are vulnerable, that they may be protected from such practices. Help us to stand firm on your word and not be swayed by empty promises. We pray in Jesus Christ name, Amen.
We strongly encourage anyone who encounters such practices to test them against the word of God. If something does not align with biblical principles, it should be avoided. As believers, we are called to give freely, as we have received freely from God. Our focus should be on spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ and not on profiting from people's desperation.
Lastly, if the televangelist does not use the name of Jesus, then they do not have access to God. For it is written in John 14:6 (WEB), Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." There is no other name by which we can be saved. Therefore we must believe in Jesus Christ and call on His name to be saved. We must warn those who may be led astray by these false televangelists.
