We are glad to join you in prayer for your long-distance relationship. We appreciate your desire for strength, understanding, and unwavering love, and we will pray with you for these things. However, we want to remind you that God's design for relationships is clear in the scriptures.
First, let's address the nature of your relationship. Since you're seeking a godly marriage, we encourage you both to be believers in Jesus Christ.
It's only in Jesus that we have access to God in prayer. Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6 WEB
We also encourage you to use this time of separation to grow individually in your faith and prepare for marriage. Remember that God's design for marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman.
Since you are seeking a godly marriage, be sure that you both are honest, trustworthy, and sexually pure people. Sexual intimacy is a gift from God that is only to be enjoyed within marriage and is specifically for a husband and his wife. If either of you have not remained pure, confess this as sin, turn away from it, and seek God's forgiveness.
Remember, "Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? Or can one walk on hot coals, and his feet not be scorched? So is he who goes in to his neighbor's wife. Whoever touches her will not be unpunished." Proverbs 6:27-29 WEB
Also, "But because of sexual immoralties, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband." 1 Corinthians 7:2 WEB
Now, let us pray together.
Heavenly Father, we come before you lifting up this couple. We ask for your strength, understanding, and unwavering love to be upon them as they navigate the challenges of a long-distance relationship. Guide them and help them grow together in faith and love.
Father, we pray you will bless this relationship with trust, patience, and guidance. We ask that you will make clear to them your will for their future together. We pray that you will prepare them individually and together for marriage. We pray you will convict them of any behaviors that are not Godly and sexually pure as they seek a Godly marriage.
We pray that you will make it clear if this relationship is not your will. We pray they will seek your will and not their own for their lives and relationship. We pray you will work in their hearts and their lives will be a testimony to others of your love and goodness.
May our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good work and word.
We ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.
"Finally, brothers, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not tiresome, but for you it is safe. Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false circumcision. For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh." Philippians 3:1-3 WEB
