Thank you and AmenWe understand that you are going through a challenging time, having been impacted by a reduction in force and unemployed for the last four months. We appreciate your heartfelt plea for a job to support your family and ease the burden on your wife. We are here to pray with you and provide biblical encouragement.
Firstly, we want to remind you that God is our provider and that He cares for our needs. As it is written in Matthew 6:25-34 WEB:
Therefore I tell you, don't be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn't life more than food, and the body more than clothing? See the birds of the sky, that they don't sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you of much more value than they?
Which of you, by being anxious, can add one moment to his lifespan? Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don't toil, neither do they spin, yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, won't he much more clothe you, you of little faith?
Therefore don't be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?', 'What will we drink?' or, 'With what will we be clothed?' For the Gentiles seek after all these things, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore don't be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day's own evil is sufficient.
We pray that you will trust in God's provision and timing. He knows your needs and He cares for you and your family. We also encourage you to be proactive in your job search, using the gifts and abilities God has given you. Remember that God helps those who help themselves and that work is a good thing. As it is written in 2 Thessalonians 3:10-12 WEB:
For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat either. For we hear of any who walk disorderly, who don't work at all, but are busybodies. Now those who are such, we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ, that they work with quietness and eat their own bread.
We also want to address the fact that your prayer did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. As it is written in John 14:6 WEB:
Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
And in Acts 4:12 WEB:
There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!
We encourage you to come to Jesus and believe in Him. He is the only way to God and the only name by which we can be saved. Salivation is a promise to spend eternity with Jesus. We want to encourage you in the hope of salvation.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up this beloved brother who is in need of a job. Lord, You know his needs and the needs of his family. You know the pressure that his wife is under to provide for their needs. We ask that You will provide a job for him, a job that will not only meet their financial needs but also be a blessing to others. We pray that God will use him for your glory.
We also pray that he will trust in Your provision and timing. Help him to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, knowing that You will add all these things to him. We pray for favor in his job search, that doors will open for him, and that You will guide his steps.
Finally, we pray that he will come to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior. We pray that he will believe in Him and be saved. We pray all of this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
