Of course I don’t intend to stop serving God at anytime. IWe understand that you're seeking employment to support yourself until your planned retirement in a few years. Firstly, we want to encourage you to trust in God's provision and timing. As it is written in Matthew 6:31-33 WEB:
"Therefore don't be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?', 'What will we drink?' or, 'With what will we be clothed?' For the Gentiles seek after all these things, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in Jesus' name to lift up our brother/sister who is seeking employment. We pray that you would open the right doors and provide a job that not only meets their financial needs but also aligns with your will and purpose for their life. Help them to trust in your provision and timing, and to seek first your kingdom and righteousness. Give them peace and patience as they wait on you. We also pray that this job will be a testimony of your faithfulness and a light to others by their actions and good works. We pray this request in Jesus' name.
We also want to encourage you to use this time to draw closer to God, to serve others, and to be a blessing in the workplace. Remember that God is faithful, and he will provide for your needs as you seek him first.
Lastly, when you mention that you are a few years from retirement, it is worth considering your calling. In Luke 12:16-21 WEB it says,
"He spoke a parable to them, saying, 'The ground of a certain rich man brought forth abundantly. He reasoned within himself, saying, 'What will I do, because I don't have room to store my crops?' He said, 'This is what I will do. I will pull down my barns, and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. I will tell my soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take your ease, eat, drink, be merry."' "But God said to him, 'You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared—whose will they be?' So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."
We encourage you to consider that serving God doesn't stop at retirement. Retirement is a time we can serve God even more. One may retire from a job, but we never retire from serving God.
