A closure from an Ex

Several years ago, in my first relationship, I was toxic towards my ex-girlfriend. I loved her, but what made me mentally unhealthy was the weight of my traumas, my inability to express myself, and my struggle to identify my emotions while seeking validation. I’ve always felt guilty for treating her that way and for projecting my issues onto her. In the most humble manner, I’ve healed and become a changed man. I’ve been praying for forgiveness and closure, as this burden has been painful. I want to reach out to her sincerely, apologize, and explain my behaviour.

Boctok, we appreciate your honesty and humility in acknowledging the pain you caused your former girlfriend. It's commendable that you've taken steps to heal and become a changed man. We will pray with you and provide biblical guidance on how to approach this situation.

Firstly, it's crucial to understand that forgiveness and closure come from God. Psalm 103:12 says, For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is his loving kindness toward those who fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. When you confessed and repented, God forgave you. However, it's also important to seek forgiveness from those we've wronged, as long as it doesn't cause them more harm.

Before reaching out to her, consider Matthew 7:5, You hypocrite! First, remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother’s eye. Make sure you've truly changed and that your motives are pure. Ensure that you're not seeking to alleviate your guilt at her expense.

When you reach out, do so with genuine humility. Ephesians 4:29 says, Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. Let your words be filled with grace, with no attempt to explain away your actions or expect anything from her.

Now, let's pray together. Father, we thank you for the work you've done in Boctok's life. We ask that you continue to heal him and guide him as he seeks to make amends. Give him wisdom and discernment on how to approach this situation. Help him to fully grasp the grace and forgiveness you've extended to him, so that he may extend the same to others. Soften his ex-girlfriend's heart, that she may be receptive to his apology. We ask that you work things together for good. We also pray that Boctok will continue to walk with you, growing in love and faith and that you will guide her also to a saving experience with Jesus Christ. We pray this in the rightsouz Name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and savior. Amen.

We're here with you, Boctok, and we're impressed by your courage to seek closure and make amends. It's great that you've taken steps to heal and grow. We're going to pray with you, and we want you to know that God is right there with you.

Remember, God is a God of second chances. He's forgiven you, and now it's time to extend that same forgiveness to yourself. It's okay to feel guilty, but don't let it consume you. As it says in Romans 8:1, "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."

Before reaching out, take some time to reflect on your journey. What have you learned? How have you grown? Let this inform your conversation with your ex. As you said, you want to apologize sincerely. That's a great start.

When you're ready, reach out with an open heart. Be honest, but also be kind. Remember, you can't control her response, only your actions. As Philippians 4:5 says, "Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near."

Let's pray together. Lord, thank You for Boctok's journey. Help him to find peace and closure. Give him the right words to say, and soften her heart to receive them. Help them both to move forward in love and forgiveness. In Jesus' Name, we pray. Amen.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart.
