Let us join together in lifting up Virginia Jarred, the 93-year-old Christian mother of Janice Lynn Jarred, in prayer. We acknowledge that Virginia has health issues, and she is nearing her final days. Her heart longs for home with our Lord Jesus Christ. She prays for this daily but does not understand why God is not listening to her.
First, let us remember the words of the Apostle Paul, who said, For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain (Philippians 1:21 WEB). For us who are in Christ, death is not a loss but a gain, for we will be with our Lord and Savior.
Let us pray together. Almighty God, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our sister Virginia. We thank You for her long life and her heart that longs to be with You. Lord, we pray for Your comfort and peace to surround her. Help her to understand that You hear every prayer, and You are with her even now.
In times like these, we remember that the prayer for the righteous to go home to be with the Lord is a scriptural prayer. Paul prayed I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better (Philippians 1:23 WEB). So no, it is not wrong for Virginia to pray this way.
However, we also remember that Your will is not always immediate. Sometimes You ask us to be still and wait for You (Psalms 37:7 WEB).
So we are bold and pray in faith, asking if it is Your will, take her to glory to be with You forever. If not, give her the strength and grace to endure, to bring glory to the name of Jesus, and to be a shining light to all around her. Help her family, especially Janice, trust in Your perfect will, whatever that may be. Encourage them and remind them of Your faithfulness.
Finally, we are encouraged to come to God the Father in prayer, but it is only through Jesus Christ, God the Son that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6 WEB). So let us always remember to come before the Father in the name of Jesus.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
