7 GODLY PRINCIPLES FOR SUCCESS
If we want to prosper and be successful in this life we need to learn the principles God has set forth in His word and obey them. The Bible tells us if we sow much but bring in little it may be because we are not living right or in compliance with the principles that God has established for us to abide by (Hag. 1:6-7). Learn how you can receive the blessings of God and prosper ( be fortunate, successful, fruitful, healthy, satisfied) physically, spiritually and financially by complying with the 7 principles listed below.
#1 RIGHTEOUSNESS
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Mt. 6:33).
The Lord promises to give us everything we need in life if we put Him first. We need to deny self and put Jesus first in our lives Lk. 9:23). We can honor and please God by surrendering our lives to Him. Let Jesus be Lord over every area of your life and let Him be in charge of every decision and action (Heb. 2:8). Weed out all the things that are displeasing to the Lord and seek to abide by His righteous standards 2 Chr. 26:5; 2 Cor. 7:1). Give the Lord God top priority in your life and spend more time with Him than you do with your personal hobbies and pleasures. Practice the Biblical law of first fruits. 1. Give God first place in your heart (Mt. 22:37,38). 2. Give God’s kingdom first priority in your life (Mt. 6:33). 3. Give God the first part of each new day (Ps. 63:1). 4. Give God the first day of every week (Hab. 10:25; Acts 20:7). 5. Give God the first portion of your income and financial increase (Ex. 13:11-15) 6. Give God the first consideration in every decision (Pr. 3:5,6). 7. Give God’s people first priority and support (Gal. 6:10). 8. Consecrate your firstborn child to the Lord (Ex. 13:11-15; Lk. 2:22-24). 9) Consecrate your body and mind to the will of God (Rom. 12:1,2). 10. Give to God the first fruits of all your labor (Ex. 23:16-19).
#2 FAITHFULNESS
“The Lord rewards every man for his righteousness and faithfulness†(1 Sam. 26:23) (see also Prov. 28:10)
A good steward understands God’s divine laws of ownership. God owns everything in the universe because He created it all (Ps. 24:1). All the money and wealth of the world belongs to God (Hag. 2:8). The Lord owns the earth and everything on it. We bring nothing into this world and take nothing out when we leave (1 Tim. 6:7). It is the Lord who gives us power to get wealth (Deut. 8:18). The Lord wants us to bear fruit with what He gives us. We must learn how to manage our time, resources, and finances. We must use our God-given gifts and abilities to help those around us. We must use our resources to help alleviate poverty and suffering. We must take care of our physical and spiritual health because our bodies belong to the Lord. We will all be rewarded by God according to our faithfulness as managers of all he has given to us (1 Sam. 26:23; Lk. 19:15-24).
#3 DEDICATION AND COMMITMENT
“But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doeth he meditate day and night… and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper†(Ps. 1:1-3)
Give yourself wholly to the precepts and moral laws of God (1 Tim. 4:15). Let them be a spiritual compass to guide you in all the affairs of your life. Don’t waste any of your time but redeem it by doing something that is purposeful and pleasing to God (Ps. 90:12). None of your steps shall slide if you will be a disciplined doer of the word who gets the laws of God deep down into your heart and mind (Deut. 11:8; Ps. 37:31; Pr. 23:7; Jam. 1:25). The Lord is not happy with a lukewarm Christian life so if you are not prospering or receiving the blessings you think you should have then you need to consider your ways and get back on track and live right (Rev. 3:15,16). A disciplined Christian will also spend quality time in prayer for his own needs and for the needs of others. Jesus said we have not because we ask not. If we are a dedicated Christian we can ask for the things we need or want as long as they are according to His will (Jn. 15:7, 16:24; 1 Jn. 5:14,15). If you will love the Lord with all your heart you will receive abundant prosperity (Deut. 6:5-11).
#4 DILIGENCE
“Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth†(Pr. 10:4)
A Christian should always maintain a good and godly work ethic. Work hard and do your very best even if you are not satisfied with your pay, work or employer. Be a dependable and reliable employee and don’t complain or make excuses to get out of work (Pr. 20:4). Be an honorable employee who has integrity and is honest in all his dealings. Be diligent and devoted in your work; working as if you were working for the Lord rather than men (Pr. 22:29;Col. 3:23). Do the best you can with the abilities that God has given to you (Ecc. 9:10; Eph. 6:13). Go the extra mile and do more than what is satisfactory and seek to be an over-achiever and a highly successful employee. Realize that it is the Lord who can help you to become successful in everything that you do (Ps. 18:2,127:1; Phil. 4:13). A good and godly work ethic can pay off with pay raises, bonuses, awards, and promotions (Pr. 12:24). The Lord will prosper and reward those who are diligent in their work, business, and spiritual calling (Pr. 10:4, 13:4, 22:29; Heb. 11:6; 2 Pet. 1:10)
#5 OBEDIENCE
“Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do†(Deut. 29:9)
Obedience to the Word of God will allow you to withstand the economic storms that come (Mt. 7:24-27; Lk. 11:28; Jam. 1:22). We must be willing to hear and obey all of God’s moral laws and precepts He has given for us to live by (Lk. 11:28). Obedience is the key for you to prosper, physically, spiritually and materially (1 Chr. 22:12,13; Job 36:11; 1 Ki. 2:3; Is. 1:19). The blessings of God will literally pursue and overtake those who walk in obedience to the Word of God (Deut. 28:1,2)! Put God’s divine laws of righteousness into practice by being a consistent doer of the word (Jam. 1:25). If you consistently heed His word you will be blessed and rewarded by God (Prov. 13:
#6 BENEVOLENCE
“He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully†(2 Cor. 9:6)
The old saying “What goes around comes around†is a Biblical principle. We reap what we sow. If we sow good seeds into the lives of others we will receive a harvest of good things in return. These laws apply in every area of life. If we plant bitter seeds of anger and hate we will receive the same from others (Ob. 1:15). If you want more love or forgiveness then plant those seeds, if you want more financial prosperity then plant monetary seeds or help those in need, if you want to be treated right then treat others right yourself (Pr. 11:24; Mt. 7:12). The Lord promises to repay everyone who does good deeds by helping others (Eph. 6:8). The Bible tells us that those who give freely grow richer while those who withhold what they should give will suffer want (Pr. 11:22). If you sow bountifully, with the right attitude, you will reap bountifully and “obtain all sufficiency in all things.†(2 Cor. 9:6-8) We should not look at giving as an obligation that we owe but as a seed we can sow (2 Cor. 9:7). We express our faith by the good deeds we do and seeds we sow (Jam. 2:14-26). The Lord promises to bless and prosper those who help the poor (Pr. 22:9; 28:27) and those who give God His tithe will be richly blessed (Mal. 3:10).
#7 TRUST
“Trust in the Lord, and do good; so thou shalt dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed†(Ps. 37:3)
Trusting in God is knowing that God will honor His promises if we do what is right (Lk. 6:28; 2 Cor. 9:6-8; Heb. 10:23). If we abide by God’s laws we will become blessed and we will prosper. God will supply all of our needs and we will not have need of any good thing (Ps. 34:10). God will grant us perfect peace despite the turbulence of life and deliver us from all our troubles. We will not need to worry about anything because we trust in Him (Is. 26:3). The righteous, who trust in the Lord, will be blessed with riches, honor and long life (Pr. 8:17-18, 22:4).
THE BANK OF HEAVEN
“Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doeth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal (Mt. 6:20)
If you observe these 7 Biblical principles you may not become wealthy in this life but you will be building treasure in heaven. Your deposits in the Bank of Heaven cannot be stolen, affected by economic recessions, or confiscated (Mt. 6:19-21; 19:21). The Bible teaches us that the only things we get to keep for eternity are the things we give away (Mt. 19:21; 1 Tim. 6:18,19). Every good deed we do for others as well as our tithes and offerings are investments that are placed into our heavenly account. A hundred-fold return (10,000% interest rate) on your heavenly investments is available to all who are totally dedicated to Christ (Mk. 10:28-30)!!!
“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth†(3 Jn. 2)
