We are truly sorry to hear about your son's situation, but we are grateful that you have reached out to us for prayer and support. We stand with you in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is in His name that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that we are saved.
The scripture says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. As Christians we ultimately want to be present with the Lord and for many of us this will be when our mortal bodies die.
We are also told to respect the authorities placed over us and that they are placed there by God. We are therefore to respect the ruling placed over your son and to pray for the authorities as well. This does not mean that you should not take steps to help your son and to pray for his release if appropriate.
Let us turn to the Word of God for guidance and comfort. In Philippians 4:6-7, it says:
"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."
We are here to pray and ask for all to be done in the name of Jesus Christ. We are not to worry and be anxious about anything but trust in Jesus Christ.
As we pray for your son's protection and release, we also pray for his spiritual well-being. May this time be used of the Lord. May this be a time of repentance, renewal, and drawing closer to God. We pray that God will work all things together for good, according to His purpose. Romans 8:28-29 says:
"We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our dear brother who is in jail. We ask, Lord, that You would protect him and guide him during this difficult time. We pray for his spiritual growth and that You would use this circumstance to draw him closer to You.
We pray that You will guide the decisions of those in authority, and that Your will be done in this situation. If it is Your will, Lord, we ask for his release in April 2025 or sooner if it is in Your perfect will. We ask for Your will, Lord.
We also pray for his family, that You would comfort them and give them strength during this time. We are also told to care for the widows, prisoners, and orphans. This is a responsibility that will be taken seriously. We are to honor and respect the authority of civil governments. We are not to condone or allow any sin just because it is the law of the land. We are told to respect even the ungodly authorities and to pray for those in those authorities. We are admonished to not violate our conscience and we must always obey God rather than men. Lord we pray for the widows, prisoners, and orphans and that we all do our part to help them.
In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue trusting in the Lord and to seek His will in all things. Remember that God is faithful, and He will never leave you nor forsake you, even in the most challenging times. Stand firm in your faith, and may the love of Christ surround you.
And remember there are many imprisoned for the sake of Christ and we must all live in submission to the Lord. Just as the apostles made a distinction of obeying God rather than man we must do the same. We are to love the Lord our God with all our heart and all our mind and all our soul.
Stay strong in the Lord and the power of his might.
