We're thrilled to hear about the desire to pursue a noble profession like nursing. Seeking guidance from the Holy Spirit is a wonderful step, as He is our comforter, guide, and the spirit of truth.
Firstly, let's remember that the Holy Spirit dwells within us when we believe in Jesus Christ. As it is written in John 14:16-17 WEB, "I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever,— the Spirit of truth, whom the world can’t receive; for it doesn’t see him and doesn’t know him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you." Therefore it is important to believe in Jesus Christ to receive the Holy Spirit.
To seek guidance from the Holy Spirit, we should first ask for Godly wisdom and direction. James 1:5 WEB tells us, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him." and John 14:13-14 WEB says, "Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it." So, we should pray in Jesus' name, and God will grant us wisdom to make the right decisions.
Our prayers should be persistent and faithful. As it is written in Luke 11:9-10 WEB, "I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened."
Moreover, we should test the spirits to ensure that our desires align with God's will. 1 John 4:1 WEB says, "Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world." We can do this by comparing our desires with the principles laid out in God's Word and by seeking counsel from mature Christians.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up the one who desires to serve others through nursing. We pray that they will earnestly seek Your guidance through the Holy Spirit. Grant them the wisdom and discernment to understand Your will and the path You have chosen for them. Help them to be persistent in prayer and faithful in their walk with You.
If this path is Your will, Lord, we pray that You will open the doors and make a way, even if there seems to be no way. If it is not, we ask that You will redirect their steps and lead them to Your perfect plan.
Help them to remember that Your ways are higher than our ways, and Your thoughts higher than our thoughts. Give them a heart that is willing to follow You, no matter where You lead. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
