We understand that you're going through a period of chastening and you're seeking God's help to endure and stay focused on Him, not dwelling on past relationships. Firstly, we commend you for praying in Jesus' name, as it's only through Him that we have access to God (John 14:6).
In times of chastening, God is disciplining us as His children, showing His love and desire for our holiness (Hebrews 12:6). Let us discuss and offer the following prayers and guidance.
The Bible encourages us to endure hardship as discipline. Do not lose heart when He rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those He loves, and He punishes everyone He accepts as a son. Endure hardship as discipline. God is treating you as His children. For what children are not disciplined by their father. Endure hardship as discipline rather than God treating you as enemies. God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems to be pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it (Hebrews 12:7, 11 WEB).
Regarding your resolve not to think of people from the past, it's crucial to keep your focus on God and the future. You know that you are the temple of God, and a spirit of God lives in you. If anyone destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him; for God's temple is holy, which you are. These things happened to them by way of example, and they were written for our admonition, to whom the ends of the ages have come. Therefore, let him who thinks he stands be careful so he does not fall. You are engaging in courtships that is oriented toward marriage to a Christian believer, enduring the trial before the holy God (1 Corinthians 3:16, 1 Corinthians 10:11,12 WEB)
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up our brother/sister in need of Your grace and strength. Help them to endure this period of chastening, keeping their eyes fixed on You and not dwelling on past relationships. Give them the power of Your Holy Spirit to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Help them to learn the lessons You have for them in this season praying for a future spouse and a holy marriage. In Jesus Christ Name Amen.
