We understand that you are seeking forgiveness and guidance in fasting. Let's begin by addressing the importance of confessing our sins and seeking forgiveness in Jesus' name. The Bible tells us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 WEB). It is through Jesus Christ alone that we can approach God and receive forgiveness, as it is written, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB).
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, seeking forgiveness for our brother/sister. Lord, we confess their sins to You and ask for Your mercy and grace. Cleanse them from all unrighteousness and strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ.
Now, regarding fasting, Jesus taught us, "However, when you fast, be sad, not like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face; so that you are not seen by men to be fasting, but by your Father who is in secret, and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you" (Matthew 6:16-18 WEB). Fasting should be a private and sincere act of worship between you and God.
Let's pray for guidance in fasting:
Dear Lord, we ask for Your guidance as our brother/sister embarks on this journey of fasting. Help them to maintain a pure heart and a humble spirit. Grant them the strength to endure and the wisdom to understand Your will. May this time of fasting bring them closer to You and align their heart with Your purposes.
In all things, remember to trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding. As it is written, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB).
Lastly, we encourage you to always pray in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is through His name that we have access to God. As the Bible says, "In him we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him" (Ephesians 3:12 WEB).
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you now and forever. Amen.
