We understand your desire to leave behind the past and move forward, and we commend you for seeking the Lord's help. Firstly, we want to remind you that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we can approach God and be saved (Acts 4:12 - "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved.").
As you strive to leave your past behind, remember that God promises us a new life in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (WEB) tells us, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new." This means that when you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, your old life passes away, and you become a new person.
However, we must also be cautious of what we allow into our minds. Philippians 4:8 (WEB) encourages us, "Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things." To avoid remembering or thinking about your past, focus your mind on things that are pure and honorable.
As you fast and pray, we join you in asking God for strength and guidance. Let us pray together:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, asking for Your help. Lord, Anonymous has confessed their past mistakes and desires to leave them behind. Please give them the strength to resist the temptation to return to their old ways or to associate with people who might hinder their spiritual growth. Help them to focus on You and the new life they have in Christ. Bless their fast and draw them closer to You during this time. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
Continue to pursue God and His righteousness, and He will help you overcome your past. Keep your focus on Him and the new life He has given you. If you find yourself struggling, do not hesitate to seek support from fellow believers who can encourage you and help you stay accountable.
