We are deeply concerned and grieved to hear about the sexual immorality you've encountered from a fellow church member. We commend you for standing firm in your faith and for reporting this grave sin to the pastor's wife and the church. This situation is addressed clearly in scripture, and the church leadership has a responsibility to act decisively.
The apostle Paul, addressing a similar situation, wrote in 1 Corinthians 5:1-5 (WEB), "It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles, that one has his father's wife. You are puffed up, and didn't rather mourn, that he who had done this deed might be removed from among you. For I most assuredly, as being absent in body but present in spirit, have already, as though I were present, judged him who has done this thing. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, you being gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, are to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus."
Later in verse 13, he instructs, "Therefore 'put away from among yourselves that wicked person.'"
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dire situation. We pray for the church pastors to have the courage, wisdom, and obedience to act according to Your Word. Help them to take swift and appropriate action to remove this evil person from among the congregation, that Your house may be purified and Your name glorified.
We also pray for the man who propositioned our sister, that he may come to true repentance and be saved from the eternal consequences of his sins. We pray that this situation will bring conviction to any others in the church who may be harboring secret sins, and that Your light may shine in the dark places, bringing repentance and restoration.
Lord, we ask that You comfort and strengthen our sister who has been affected by this sin. Help her to heal from this distressing experience and to continue walking in Your light.
We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to remain steadfast in your faith and to continue praying for your church and its leaders. Trust that God will work through this situation to bring about His purposes and to purify His church. Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God, as it is written in John 14:6 (WEB), "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"
We are here to support you in prayer and counsel. Please do not hesitate to share any further concerns or requests.
