Overcoming sin through the Lord Jesus, our Joshua, is the theme of this book. The "old man" has already been killed by God i.e. Pharoah's army , but the lusts of our flesh i.e., giants in Canaan must be killed one by one if we are to enter in and possess the land. Great victories come because God is with me, hearing what God is saying, avoiding the temptation to be complacent, and many others.
