McGee recalls that early in his ministry he was an apologetics preacher but in later years he moved away from this emphasis. He explains this by observing that apologetics are helpful to helping a person believe the Bible is the Word of God, but only the Spirit can allow a person to know this. He reemphasizes this point by saying that we can t rely on biblical archaeology or science to confirm the Word of God the Holy Spirit must become real to us.
