A look at Justification by works in the book of James as compared to Paul s doctrine of Justification by Faith. McGee observed that Paul and James were not standing face to face contradicting each other, but rather standing back to back defending true biblical faith against two different foes. While Paul was affirming the power of real saving faith, James was criticizing the impotency of empty professing faith. The sermon ends with Pauls exhortation. Examine yourselves whether ye be in the faith. Interesting side note: McGee claimed as inaccurate the familiar story that Martin Luther called James an Epistle of straw .
