True revival is not an emotional experience that affects many people but has short-lived results. An effective revival requires being sensitive to the Spirit and will of God. There may be great travail accompanying revival. Revival takes place in individuals and in communities. It is a purposeful undertaking, like stirring hot coals and adding fuel to revive the flames.
